We love sharing our work, showing off creative projects and helping businesses stand out. However, behind every logo, illustration, layout and design is time, skill, research and a whole lot of creative thinking.

This Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy explains what belongs to Bonehead Design, how our creative work may be used and the rights relating to designs, content and materials created by us.

The aim is simple: enjoy the work, be inspired by it, but please don't take the bones and run.

Ownership of Content

Unless otherwise stated, all content created and displayed by Bonehead Design is owned by or licensed to:

• Logos and logo concepts.

• Illustrations and artwork.

• Website designs and layouts.

• Graphic design work.

• Typography choices and design compositions.

• Written content.

• Photography and video content created by Bonehead Design.

• Portfolio pieces and case studies.

• Original creative assets and design elements.

All intellectual property rights relating to these materials are protected under applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.

Use of Website Content

Visitors are welcome to view and enjoy the creative work displayed on the Bonehead Design website.

However, unless written permission has been provided, you must not:

• Copy, reproduce or distribute website content.

• Modify or adapt designs, graphics or written material.

• Use Bonehead Design work for commercial purposes.

• Claim ownership of Bonehead Design content.

• Remove copyright notices or ownership information.

• Use our creative work as templates, examples or inspiration for creating competing materials.

We are always happy for people to appreciate our work. We just ask that the bones stay where they belong.

Client Work and Ownership

When Bonehead Design creates work for a client, ownership and usage rights are determined by the agreed project terms.

Unless otherwise stated:

• Final approved designs transfer to the client once full payment has been received.

• Unused concepts, alternative designs, drafts and development files remain the property of Bonehead Design.

• Creative processes, methods, techniques and expertise remain the property of Bonehead Design.

• Third party assets remain subject to their own licensing terms.

Clients receive rights to use completed work for the agreed purpose and scope of the project.

Logo and Brand Identity Rights

Brand identity projects often involve multiple stages of exploration, including research, sketches, concepts, revisions and final artwork.

Once a client has paid in full, ownership rights for the final approved logo or agreed brand identity assets will transfer according to the terms of the individual project agreement.

Unless otherwise agreed, ownership does not include:

• Unused logo concepts.

• Rejected ideas or alternative directions.

• Early sketches and development work.

• Internal design files created during the creative process.

• Design methods, techniques or approaches used to create the work.

The final approved brand identity is supplied for the agreed business use. Any additional uses outside the original agreement may require further permission, licensing or discussion.

Source Files and Editable Artwork

Source files contain the working process behind a design and are not automatically included unless specifically stated within the project agreement.

Examples of source files may include:

• Adobe Illustrator files.

• Photoshop files.

• InDesign files.

• Original development files.

Where source files are included, they are provided for the agreed purpose only.

Bonehead Design retains the right to protect and reuse general creative knowledge, techniques and skills gained through the design process.

Third Party Materials and Licensing

Some creative projects may include third party materials such as:

• Fonts.

• Stock photography.

• Icons.

• Software assets.

• Plugins.

• Templates.

These materials remain subject to the original creator's or provider's licensing terms.

Where Bonehead Design uses licensed materials, those licences apply only to the agreed usage and may not automatically transfer to the client.

Clients are responsible for ensuring they have the correct licences for any additional uses outside the original project scope.

Portfolio and Promotional Use

Bonehead Design reserves the right to display completed work created for clients as part of its professional portfolio and marketing activities unless otherwise agreed in writing.

This may include:

• Website portfolio pages.

• Social media.

• Case studies.

• Design awards.

• Promotional materials.

Where appropriate, Bonehead Design may credit the client and showcase the project as an example of completed work.

Confidential information, private materials or projects subject to specific restrictions will always be treated appropriately.

Copyright Infringement

Bonehead Design takes the protection of its creative work seriously.

If you believe that any content belonging to Bonehead Design has been used without permission, please contact us so we can review the situation.

Unauthorised copying, reproduction, distribution or commercial use of Bonehead Design content may result in action being taken to protect our intellectual property rights.

We always prefer to resolve issues through a conversation first, but we reserve the right to take appropriate steps where necessary.

Inspiration vs Copying

At Bonehead Design, we believe great design comes from inspiration, ideas and creativity.

We are always happy for people to admire our work, learn from our approach and appreciate the creative process.

However, inspiration does not mean copying.

You must not reproduce, trace, imitate or create substantially similar versions of Bonehead Design work without permission.

This Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy is governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes relating to this policy or the use of Bonehead Design intellectual property will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
